XMas doesn't remove "christ" from Christmas

quote:

Xmas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word chi, which in English is "Christ".[1] The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass.[2]

There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas[3] by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas", but its use dates back to the 16th century.

We never get gifts for each other because we just buy whatever we want. I noticed she enjoyed wearing my 30 year old vintage letterman’s jacket. But hasn’t been wearing it the last 2 years. I looked at it and noticed it needed some sewing repairs. I got it repaired and gave it to her last night as a Christmas present. She loved it! For someone who has everything sometimes it’s the little things that matter.

Lets play a game where we insert a random word into this sentence...

My baw, I'm far from a "soyboy and neckbeard." I just allow people to use common abbreviations without becoming irate and unreasonable.

x is the Greek letter Chi...which is short for Khristos (Greek for Christ). Xmas is putting Christ into Christmas.

Here come the idiots.

“X” stands for “Chi” or “Christ”
It’s the abbreviated way to say Christmas
