Friend,
Unless it is a Christmas ornament, furniture, or dining ware, if it is made in Europe, I stay away from it. Cars are especially in the category to avoid. European cars are terribly designed, especially Volvo.
Yours,

I drive an Acura TSX right now and it’s too small and we have a 3 month old and will be trying for #2 next year.
They are offering a $500 incentive if you have #2 in 2020

Just expand, those larger motors will have smoother power delivery, it won’t be notchy, and that power will come earlier.
They’re more drivable.

I rented an XC-90 back in February. It‘s a good looking car and the interior is well done.
I didn’t love it though.
It didn’t have as much power as I wanted, I didn’t like the intrusive driver aids, and I thought the touchscreen interface was clunky.
While it’s much more expensive, the X7 is more polished, and a lot more fun to drive.

Give me your thoughts on the Volvo XC-90 SUV
I rented one a few years ago in the UK and liked it well enough even though it was by far the largest thing around on the road there, it was a diesel which I dont think you can buy in the US.
Wife and I both said we would consider it next time we needed a ride and it is hard to please both of us with the same vehicle.

Xc90 and it’s competitors are large vehicles made to haul families and their belongings.
The 4 cyl is fine for stop n go on the streets.
But with a family of 4 on the highway, you’ll much prefer a turbo or supercharged v6.

They do make a 400hp T8 model.
Their XC90 Excellence version is slick.
