I’m fairly certain it’s just a symptom of low body fat percentage. Most of the chicks that have them are runners or otherwise very skinny in my experience.

Hey, at least you've got a 6-pack you can obviously still see. Mine is now buried and it all started at age 50 when I decided to quit smoking cold turkey and my metabolism decided I was pretty much now on my own-----double trouble for a guy that loves to cook----and eat.
