Eh, you’re a bit at fault here. Like it or not, part of dating someone is occasionally going to things for her friends and family that you’d rather not do.
My advice to to the guy with the "girlfriend" is, let her know right now, there are things I'm not going to attend, so go ahead and wrap your head around that so that you aren't surprised later.
