Gimme the scoop on Copper Mill and The Bluffs.... as potential retirement locales.

I am probably 12 years from retirement. I might want to relocate before then and start easing into it.
I want somewhere not too far from Baton Rouge, both for LSU games and family.
I want to play golf.
I want some scenery and/or natural beauty.
I don't want a giant mortgage in my old age. I also don't need other people living on top of me.

Copper Mill is a nice neighborhood. I love the layout of that course too.

IF I had to pick a place to live, it would be the Bluffs. However, that course always seems to have trouble staying in top shape. There is no guarantee it will remain open for the entirety of your retirement.

The Bluffs is quite scenic. It's in St Francisville which is a nice little town

If those are your choices, The Bluffs is outside of EBR parish.

I am a member of the Bluffs. St. Francisville is a great community, with good restaurants and more to do than most small towns. The Club has gone through transition and now has new ownership who are investing alot of money to get the club back to its previous standards of top course in Louisiana (prior to Squire Creek). There is a fairly strong group of retirees who play golf in established games three or fours days a week. Looks like they are having alot of fun to me. There is also a 3 mile nature trail adjacent to the Bluffs for the residents. Very nice. Some of the homes are pretty affordable and membership charges at the Club are at an all time low. Used to cost $450.00 a month. Current out of town membership, including BR, you can join now for $150.00 a month, including cart.

Greens have been terrible.
Beaver Creek was amazing when we played there a few weeks ago.

You living in 2018? Copper Mill has the best greens in the area. Free membership for homeowners.

I was talking about Copper Mill. Beaver Creek Pro (also CM Pro) said they were still dealing with some sort of disease on the greens.

Played there Saturday, and the greens were in good shape. Not as fast as I'd prefer, but they rolled fine. They were much better than when I last played there in late June.

Copper Mill greens have been fantastic all year. Beaver lost their greens for a few months in the spring.

There is no CM pro, so that statement is incorrect.
Of course Beaver will put down CM since all players choose between those two courses.

Weird. We were literally recommended to move our game away from CM just a couple of weeks ago.
