make them a bank/savings account/buy a CD/buy stocks and for every Christmas, Easter, Birthday, good grades whatever make a deposit/add to their portfolio.

How about Groovy Girl dolls? They are small plush dressable dolls sold in boutique toy shops. About $15 each, so you could maybe get them each a doll and extra outfit.

i bought my 5 year old neice light up LED gloves last year for christmas. She LOVED them.

The $40 tablets are perfect then. Kids don't forget about tablets in 3 months & they use them constantly to watch videos play games etc. It'll be their favorite gift & you'll be their favorite uncle.
