I warned her, but this was worst episode I've ever had. I never went down to floor. I was in chair and another nurse, the one I hit, helped keep me in chair.

It's a vagal response. It's normal. You're in your 30's. Welcome to the middle ages. You are no longer 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

Do you have claustrophobia?
I think there's a connection between trouble with blood being drawn and this phobia

Not at all, that is interesting though

I've never been told I was. I normally feel like an overall healthy guy

I've had the same issue since my early 20s... never bothered me much as a kid. Doesn't even have to be me. I went with my wife to get her wisdom teeth out and they had trouble hitting a vein. Just the thought of it almost put me out.

Generally you are fasting
Ask them to give you a coke or something to drink for right after.
I also look away

I admit I have claustrophobia, you may not realize it until you're in one of those situations like being under a house in the crawl space.
I have trouble with giving blood, too, and I feel my "problem" with giving blood is that while giving blood you are "trapped" in one spot waiting to finish up the blood work.

I know but I'm a fireman, I've been in tight spaces quite a few times. Never has bothered me

Low Blood Sugar, Drink a sweet soda to counteract when drawing blood, I believe this is fairly common

Vagal response is probably what is happening.

Vagal response causes a sudden drop in blood pressure, which causes blood to pool in your legs.

Would elevating his legs help? They often do that when you donate blood but not when they're just drawing blood for tests.

Also, a wise man told me many years ago never to watch the blood flowing out. Turn your head the other way or look at the ceiling.

The nurse I hit definitely wasn't happy about it. I felt bad about it but damn, didn't do it on purpose.

I wasn't watching. Nurse and I were talking and I warned her I'm about to go out right before I did. As I said earlier, I also warned her prior to her sticking me, but I never expected or have ever had an episode that "dramatic"

I had blood drawn last week, and the nurse said, "Oh shite" when the blood started squirting out all over the place. Didn't pass out. I have had my head cut open at the doctor a few times, and I start sweating when that happens. I think it's because I can't see it, but I can feel it.

Did you watch?

Eta: I'm getting blood drawn in 50 minutes. Will report back if I die
