All that article said was hospital staff are forced to wear mask in patient areas and visitors are encouraged to do the same with flu, rsv, Covid going on.

That’s been pretty standard stuff for those viruses and hospital staff since long before Covid for certain areas this time of year.

And that’s where it starts. No, you should refuse to wear a mask even in a hospital unless you’re in surgery or you’re putting something down someone’s throat.

Surely you do not mean this as a no exceptions requirement

I mean, don’t want a doctor to accidentally cough down your throat as he’s checking your tonsils.

But what about when I'm checking the nurses' tonsils?

Why?
Those are all viruses.
Anything other than a PROPERLY FITTED N-95 mask does nothing to prevent viral transmission.
This has been proven for 5 years now. Why are dumbass people still going along with this crap?

So doctors get fit tested yearly for an N-95, and you are arguing why they are still wearing masks when viral respiratory illness levels spike? Regular (non N 95) masks for patients with respiratory symptoms won’t “filter out” the aeresoled virus particles, but would certainly decrease droplet transmission. We are talking about masking in hospitals here, not a grocery store.

So we just have the risk of a shitty cold and flu season this year?

Nothing they named is particularly deadly. Unless elderly or infant (RSV).

I’ve worn masks in a hospital before covid. Peak of flu season. Bad flu season and walking in to see a patient with flu like symptoms. Sure. Why not. Even if it’s to protect you from a full on sneeze to the face.

Mandating visitors wear them? Nah. frick that.

Some people still want them?? Since Covid ended we still have the mask carts at an entrances. Just there if you want one. Somebody fills those carts everyday.

Jesus, some of you. Just because the state government doesn't mandate it doesn't mean Oschner, or all the other hospitals in the state won't, as private entities.
