Man, I used to go here for all of my 80's skater dude needs. I expected thee Wal Mart effect to have put them and others out of business long ago, but they survived.
In the last year or two, Guidry's Reef, Cal's Western Store and others are falling like dominoes.

After 39 years in business, a well-known Acadiana business is closing its doors.
The Get Wet Shop on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. in Lafayette posted on their Facebook page Friday that the business is closing "forever."
The Get Wet Shop carries swimwear, and dancing and gymnastic supplies.
In 1978, the Get Wet Shop was founded by JoAnn and Rene "Poochie" Delhomme and their eight children, according to the shop's Facebook page. In the beginning, it was known as Delhomme Swim Supply, the supplier of Lycra Racing Swim Suits for local and area competitive swim teams.

I always thought they said “we’re very you” which doesn’t make a bit of sense.

I used to go there and get skating stuff as well. They always had cute chicks that worked there when I'd go.

The time or two that we went in there to get dance stuff for my daughter, they were relatively rude and unhelpful.

I thought this thread was about Scandals

Actually kind of surprising they made it nearly 40 years selling swimsuits and dancing shoes.

Not Walmart, Get Wet carries high end specialty clothing for swimmers and and dancers as well as designer swimwear, none of which Walmart touches. Don't know about skateboarding items. Online sales and other boutique shops (some in the Mall of Acadiana, that would include stuff directed at skateboarders) are more likely. I assume it is also possible none of the kids want to carry on the business and noone is interested in picking it up.
