It's a damn good thing they aren't the only airline in existence and the free market will go into effect if they do raise prices.
It would suck for Atlanta residents to miss out on all the direct flights delta offers there.

Would cost Delta way more to move.
Over time? Also, wouldn’t another city love to be a delta hub? Would that city and state not pay for enlargement of an existing airport and cost of moving their fleet, to have a huge boost that a major airline could bring?

The free market at work.
Just let it play out and see where it settles.

Delta should move their hub to BTR.

Delta isn't leaving GA over $50 million. They are only 2 years into a 20 year lease and no other airport has the gates to support Delta and adding enough would take years. Also, that's not to mention the logistics nightmare a move like that would be.
We talked about this yesterday on the Political Talk, but people don't seem to understand their corporate headquarters aren't located in the airport.
Still daunting to move, but not like they have to move the fleet.

Like some others said, they lost the tax incentive already. But essentially if they don’t get it back, cost will be moved to the consumer. If they were to get the tax incentive back, the consumer won’t see any additional savings. Thankfully I don’t fly delta anyways so I don’t give a frick.

They aren't moving the corporate HQ either

It's not really the free market at all. It's the government strong arming a company because said company won't offer discounts to the biggest gun lobby in the country. It's a bit pathetic.

I bet Memphis would jump at the opportunity.

Probably not, but you keep mentioning airport gates like that is what keeps the headquarters in Atlanta.

I mean, Delta has 8 hubs in the US.
Detroit and Twin Cities are the 2 next biggest hubs. It isn't like they would have to start fresh.
And yes, I know it isn't going to happen. It is just a discussion point.

It's not? Google says it's just north of the airport.
AA is moving from DFW to fort worth soon, but Southwest is at love field. Doesn't it make better sense to be close?

Delta aint moving shite. They have billions tied to Atlanta in both infrastucture, HQ buildings, personnel and contracts.
This whole anti NRA thing is pandering to popular sentiment as they are worried about impact on their traffic into the florida tourist market. In 30 days the entire country will have moved on just like after every other mass shooting when the media stops covering it.

Aren't they making memphis smaller right now? Half the gates were closed when I flew in December.

Really - where is Delta going to relocate their home offices and HUD? NOLA??
Delta is stuck in Atlanta - period

if for some reason Delta did decide to move...and that would be extremely difficult, most likely they would move to Minneapolis, which was the former HQ of Northwest Airlines, whom they combined with a few years ago. Minneapolis is still a major Delta hub with a lot of facilities for that reason. Still, they arent going to move.
