Did the kid have medical issues causing it to not gain weight? It takes a long time of zero food to die from not eating. I don't see how that's related to her leaving the kid at home at night, but whatever

Which is why I don’t get the working part. Usually these types at least keep their meal ticket alive so they can collect welfare and sit at home.

I mean, maybe the kid had a legit medical issue that wasn't in the article. I wouldn't put it past any news agency to exclude that information from something to gain page views. I just find it hard to believe that the kid hadn't eaten anything in a month....not even table scraps.

Who are these people? The child weighed 14 lbs!
I think child services also dropped the ball on this one. It says the family called them and then she stopped speaking to the family over a year ago, thereafter.

So I flatly reject that she was in any way trying to provide for the child if she's not willing to put forth the small amount it would pay to have someone babysit her. A kid that age will sleep through the night, so not like there would have been much effort or cost

No doubt, but even if she did, the ME says the kid was too emaciated to live anyway. If it was a pattern of the mom purposely not feeding the child, it wouldn't have mattered if she were home or not

i know it is. but frick, i don't need the daily reminders. i guess my feelings have gotten worse since having my own. she is 3, this girl was almost 3. if i was the father of that child, that women would die some way or another. she woudln't get the privilege of jail.
