He wrote several bigguns too.
I remember them talking about it.
Just swapping places of 2 words opened new possibilities in the song.

Also Taylor Swift's favorite.
Tough for me to pick one. Marina del Ray is probably it.

This is one of his new(ish) songs. It's really catchy. Great party playlist tune.

Gene Elders was his long time fiddle player in the Ace in the Hole Band (1984-2024)
This song has some nice fiddle licks showcasing his skill.
One of the best fiddlers of all time.
RIP Gene!

He pumps out an album still every 5 years. And still has some great songs. They just aren't played on the radio.

If he had died soon after Amarillo by Morning, he'd still be a damn legend

Did he steal it, or just have a relationship with it?

I rode an elevator with him in the 80's, just before a Rangers game ended at Arlington Stadium. He was wearing a blue button down exactly like he's wearing in your posted video. Probably had on the same kind of boots, a new pair of Wranglers, and a straw Stetson. It was just he and I. We talked about the Rangers, and the game, all the way down.
After I said "have a safe drive" and walked away from him, a guy came up and said, "Did you talk to him?"
I asked, "Talk to who?"
He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "George Strait!"
I asked, "Is that who that was?"
I wasn't a country music fan and really didn't realize who he was. That elevator was used by the media, and the people who had suites. I guess I had the game and had it on my mind. I thought he was just some rich DFW businessman who had a suite and really didn't pay attention to what he looked like. It wasn't like there weren't probably 100 guys dressed exactly like he was at games in Arlington during the 80's.

Wow. I'd love to have that exact playlist on my Apple Music.

I freaking love that video.
If I could have a beer with any famous person, it would be with George out at his ranch.
