both overpriced fad items.
How long does something have to remain relevant for it to stop being considered a fad?

Skipping over the time limitation part of the definition?

i would say that when computers were highly priced around 2000-2005, the price difference was less for apple products. The people who bought apple were raised on apple for the most part.

right now is the largest difference between apple products and their competition. in a sense, we are in the middle of the fad.

A product isn't a fad because it's more expensive than the competition.

quote from the definition.

In economics, the term is used in a similar way. Fads are mean-reverting deviations from intrinsic value caused by social or psychological forces like those that cause fashions in political beliefs or consumption goods.

How many people in this thread drive a car that is more expensive than any other car they could have bought to get them from A to B?

In any market, people put value on what they deem worthwhile. I own a Pelican cooler that was about $250 for 45 quart. Anyone that tells me that I don't need it can frick off. I have owned it about 5 years and in the 5 years before that, I went through about 5 or 6 coolers that cost me between 40 and 60 dollars and the Pelican is still bulletproof. It never leaves my work truck and I put ice in it Friday morning before I leave for the weekend, drain it down some Monday morning and fill it back up with ice and don't have to worry about it again until Friday. I work in 90+ degree heat and sometimes travel for a week in a shot so I chose to make it an investment and it has paid for itself easily.

Most people who own Yetis don't need them but they want them and choose to buy it. But in the same sense, why would you need a 75k Mercedes when a $2500 used Honda will get you to work? You choose to go for the luxury of it.

Most people who have smartphones don't have any NEED of internet on the road but they choose to have it. They want the convenience of checking Facebook from anywhere and playing games but there is no need for it.

Went to do a commercial shoot over at Bowie outfitters Friday. They had Yeti cups. Stainless steel cups that cost $30. They said they cant keep them In stock because all the frat boys buying them all up. Cheapest way to get the sticker.

I can't get over people paying $24 for a $4 t-shirt, at Academy so they can advertise what type of cooler they have.

You mean the type of cooler they want people to think they have.

I think Costa hats, shirts, and stickers are way more prevalent than yeti.

If you're trying to keep fish cool for several days, then the yeti is absolutely worth it

Cept several tests have proven it is actually worse at this than a $65 Coleman Extreme

The more amazing fact is that people will buy stickers or items that come with stickers so that they can pay Yeti to advertise for them

Cept the fact that the Coleman Xtreme insulation is shite and will pretty much waste away after 6 months to a year in the heat and then it holds ice for about 8 hours in the heat at best. Not to mention the Coleman is made of shite plastic that cracks and chips pretty quickly too.

I agree with this to an extent but people do it with much more than a few items. Look how many people pay 30 bucks for a shitty band tshirt to wear around. How many people buy a statesmetal plate for the front of their car? They cost 30 to 50 bucks depending on what you buy just show your allegiance of school.
