I think its wonderful! If you commit a crime that is severe enough to leave DNA, you need to be caught, any means necessary. Hopefully, it will cut down on violent crimes. People will start realizing there’s a greater risk of being caught. You do the crime, you do the time. And DNA is very unambiguous testing, can’t argue too much with it so it may help keep innocent people from being charged with crimes they didn’t commit.

I love seeing these a-hole get rung up after living decades of care free life. The info is already there voluntarily. If cops can link it up then more power.

DNA evidence is far from fool proof. There as been more than one case where a person was arrested for a crime because of a DNA match, but they were later cleared. In one case in California a homeless man would probably now be serving life in prison for murder if he had not had the alibi of being in the hospital when the crime was committed. DNA can be contaminated, accidentally transferred, or have errors made in process that can lead to people being falsely accused.

I did Ancestory.com,if a blood relative of mine turns out to have been serial killer/rapist and he is identified through my dna it’s fine with me.If I had relative that committed serious crime and I knew it I would certainly turn him in.In fact I had pos 1’st cousin that had meth lab on family property and I turned him in.
