Just had a debate with Fam re: brand name items that you can't tell the difference in quality/taste but can definitely see the diff in price.

Told the sis to shut her yapper and let's do some taste tests.

My first item was French's vs Family Dollar plain yellow mustard.
No one could tell which was which.

Second was a handle of Taaka vodka vs name brand but not premium Skyy.
No one complained of a difference - straight shot, room temp.

What are some other rip offs of this ilk?

Brands matter with some things. Like ketchup. I only buy Heinz ketchup. And Trappeys jalapeños.

Generic peanut butter, mayonnaise, bleach, American slice cheese, canned vegetables are all the same to me

Is there really much of a price difference between French's and store brand mustard?

I actually like some of the store brand sodas better than the name brand. The Winn Dixie old fashioned root beer is the shiznit. Also, I think the great value lasagna is better than the name brand. Cheese from the dollar store is shite.

French's mustard is like $1.39. You may save $.35 a year going with the cheap stuff. Splurge a little.

Pretty much what got the fun started. Sis was on mom for even having a generic in the fridge. Mom listed off items she only gets at FD like generic Tums, ibuprofen, mustard, and several more. Sis got uppity.
