The warning is a few miles north of Collierville and Germantown. They may not have activated the sirens. Bartlett, Lakeland, Cordova, and the I-40 corridor around Wolfchase mall is under the gun. If there is a tornado, you might be able to see it on the TDOT traffic cameras east of the 240 interchange.
I feel like this is always the case in Memphis

Today's outlook just released...15+% is very high for a tornado probability...be safe out there...

Do not like that at all for Tuscaloosa

Yep. Looks like a classic 'Dixie Alley' scenario.
Good luck and stay safe in MS/AL/TN.

I've always heard the combination of the River and Bluffs somewhat protects Memphis. Never seen any proof, but it does seem that way.

I actually posted the same damn thing in a similar thread on the other OT board. It was why 4/27/11 in Tuscaloosa was such a shock to my system. When I grew up in Colliverville it always felt like we would get all of these warnings and eventually nothing would happen. Everything seemed to go North and South of us.

1950 - 2011 tornado tracks...

Hell of a surprise wake up call in Shreveport last night. Obviously it wasnt anything much, but I definately wasnt expecting it.

The new Day 1 is pretty strongly worded with a mention that an upgrade to High Risk may be necessary later. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mod area expanded southward. The I-20 corridor in MS looks concerning later on today based on current storms and Hi-res modeling from this morning.

Nope. Doesn't look like a good day to be in Starkville, either.

Same here. Between my phone, my wife's phone and my work phone, we thought the world was ending

Same here.
I could see the top of the Plain Dealing storm. It was significant (the lightning was too).
Knew we were in the clear, and about to doze off when I saw that the other cells were warned in Panola County, and about an hour out.
I am heavily caffeinated this morning.

Millington, Dyersburg, Forest City, and Jackson (TN) seem to get rotation and serious tornadoes much more often. I'm not sure if it is typography or luck, but Super Tuesday 2008 was the last serious tornado outbreak that actually impacted the more densely populated parts of Memphis and Shelby County even though the surrounding areas get nailed pretty frequently.
The 2011 outbreaks were shocking to a lot of people. Tuscaloosa and Joplin were both cases of powerful tornadoes tracking right through towns. It reminded everyone what could happen.
I think today the worst of it will be closer to Birmingham and Jackson along I-20.

Is that the one that took out the Sears in the Hickory Ridge Mall? If so, you could watch on Channel 5, I think, from their rooftop camera on the Hilton as the transformers started blowing up in the distance... just kind of went down boom boom boom boom in a line. I know you see that alot, it's just kinda weird when you see it and you know exactly where they are talking about.
Found some bits of insulation in my backyard in Germantown when it was all said and done. I reckon that's what it was from.

There is a cell just west of Spring Hill that will probably get a warning soon. Headed towards Franklin, TN....which is a fairly well populated Nashville suburb.
