Same with weddings that have a couples shower, a bridal shower, and to not leave out the guys, a "honey do" shower. Oh, and then the actual wedding.

Wife wanted one, I didn't really but figured it would make her happy.

We only had about 10 people over. Cut the cake, put a pic on Facebook, got drunk. Fun night.

How hard is it to just not go to things you don't want to go to?

Regardless, every single one of those parties has food and booze provided to you, and all you have to do is bring a cheap gift. I guarantee you're coming out way ahead on that transaction, plus you get to have a good time with family and friends.

It's a thing, so I figured out a way to make money off of it.

Just went to one. Was a pretty nice little get together, and it was pretty cool seeing how excited they were when they found out it was a boy.

Why are people bothered so much by what other people decide to do?

I'm not really interested in them, so guess what I do? I don't go, unless its close family. Pretty simple.

I don't get on a message board and judge people who do or don't have them.

Or it's hilarious to see the disappointment on dad's face when it's another girl or mom's face when it's another boy

Wife and I found out gender when the babies were born.

Didn't need the glitter/confetti poppers, smoke bombs, cake icing, canons, balloons, fireworks, pinata, baseball soft toss, paint gun fight, scratch off cards, with 30 other people.

Personal preference.

This.

My buddy busted a pinata and had a girl. Looked like his life flashed before his eyes. He said he hated every moment of it but felt he had no choice.

Is he mad because it was a bad pitch or because he's having a girl?

I don’t think it’s trashy or attention whoring. I just think it’s fricking stupid.

I'm 49 and mother of 3. I pray that when my children have children that I don't have to go to one of these.

It wasn't even that bad of a pitch. I think he's mad he can't hit.

I don’t mind these too much because there is usually food. However, I can’t it when I find out that later that the parents already knew the gender.

Indeed. How about the baseball one where he hit the ball back into his wife's face and it didn't break?
