Brah, between my best buds and my own son, we will be a shroom doin, weed smoking, shine drinkin buncha sumbiches when corporate responsibilities subside...but we will still drink classic cocktails on occasion. Its only appropriate.

People that say they would be bored in retirement make me sad. You can’t find a good life without working for someone else?? Sad.

I’ll keep my river house now. Keep my Colorado cabin. Maybe buy a place in the keys. Then rotate living among the three. Good god I hope I could find a way to live with out work

I'm 45 with a 2 year old. The word retire for me means 6 feet under pushing up daisies.

frick working. I'd gladly not go and retire Monday if I could afford it. Humans weren't made to spend their days in cubicles or offices imo. It's unnatural.

I work for the Feds. I can retire at 48 but my youngest will just be starting high school. I am about to start doing adjunct work at the local college. If I like it, then I want to do that full time until my mid fifties.

We have a camper and we love to camp. I want to do the campground host gig and travel around the country doing that.

I’m 48, married, two kids....wife hasn’t worked in 13 years so I’m pulling the cart. Target is to retire at 60.

When I retire I’m going to get trashy....smoke weed, distill my own liquor, fish, golf and play video games. Pull the old crew together and do some shrooms. Maybe fix up an old Jeep to drive around in.

Is this bad?

Yes! Why doesn't your wife work?!

Those are people who allowed their career to become their identity.

There's so many amazing things to see and do, these people are really missing out.

My wife has been on me to buy a camper for years. We already own a truck big enough to pull a small one for the 3 of us. I think she's 7-8 years too early. With a kid in in the 7th grade, I'm afraid we wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost.

I am an older millennial and we bought one to bring the kids while they are young. The memories they make and the time you spend together easily justifies the cost. Take a daughter and son out in it and they LOVE it and so do we.

I’m one of the last years of gen x. Got a ways to go but I’m on track to retire mid 60’s.

I don’t know if I want to quit everything but maybe open a simple small business. Maybe make grits sausage and bacon every day in a small setting, have the news playing in the background, and hang out with whoever wants to hang out that morning.

I've never understood the "work 'til you die" mentality. If I wasn't getting paid to be there, I wouldn't come to work. It annoys me more than anything.

That's why I was asking how old his kids are. If they are both older and in school...why isn't she working? Even just part time? I mean...what is she doing all day while he is at work and the kids are at school?

He could more easily retire if he had two incomes contributing to retirement funds.

I think many of us would love to not work if we could afford it How many of us would quit our jobs in a heartbeat if we won a massive lottery winning?

I can technically retire as early as 58 and start collecting my state pension.

But...if I wait a few more years...my pension goes up a good bit(couple more multipliers kick in). And I won't be using up a big chunk of that to pay for insurance. I've seen many people at my hospital retire before 65...and then end up coming back to work (there are ways you can still work some and collect your pension) cause they can't afford paying insurance on their own until they are old enough for Medicare.

I don’t need to retire to play golf, travel, fish, hunt, etc. I do plenty of that now

50 here. Plan on having a place on a beach and an old convertible. Hopefully travel a little, and have a couple of friends left to do stuff with.

Retirement accounts say I can retire around 58-60.....maybe even sooner if my oldest can get a free ride to college.

Unfortunately with my luck, I'll croak on the way home from my retirement party. All the effort I put into retirement savings will be for naught. Sad, but true.

My former boss (a woman) when I worked on the peds floor retired a few years ago. Her and her husband had all these travel plans now that they were both retired.

He died a week after her retirement party of a heart attack. Very sad.
