This is a dangerous way of thinking, imo.

Is this a troll post? Gen X’ers children are typically like 10 to 16.
Post has to be made by a boomer who just so happened to parent a Gen X’er

Born in 1967, so I’m on the early side of Gen X. Both of my kids are grown and on their own.

My dad (54) used to tell stories of having to put toilet paper in his underwear to reduce the impact of the arse whippings he got when he did something bad.
So you're telling us your father knew your gramps was going whip that arse for misbehaving, but he proceeded to knowingly earn an arse-whipping anyway. Instead of following your grandpa's instructions he devised ways to hinder the correction process. This individual then offered you guidance on following instructions?

Beat me to that exact comment about GenX children being Gen Z'er. My Gen Z kid is very apolitical.

Kids of early GenX'ers are likely millennials. Later ones are GenZ.
We have a millennial (barely) and GenZ

Gex X'er here with 3 kids in college/high school.
None of them have been rioting or belong to Antifa.

You really have to go back to the Warren and then Burger courts. Eventually it eroded our schools and now our entire society. It started when liberals got ahold of our Courts. Took away the ability to teach about God in schools, took away the ability of children to be disciplined and almost completely took over higher education. A generation and a half having now lived in that life and this country is fortunate to have lasted this long. It was only a matter of time.

First it was baby boomers and now Xers that are to blame for millennials and our current condition.
May I propose that all people post greatest generation share in the blame because they’re all spoiled rotten.

Obviously, there are generational differences over large time spans, but people within 7-8 years of each other generally had similar experiences in life unless that span straddled some major technological innovation or major event.
The generations are interesting to talk about but someone born in 1976 didn't have a vastly different upbringing than someone born in 1982.

Good points. My grandfather’s generation and I are quite different. His first recollection of technology was the automobile. Mine was man landing on the moon. Today’s generation was high speed internet. He grew up in a time where you had to be a really good shot in hunting because the family depended on it during the depression to live on, and you couldn’t afford missed shots as ammo was an additional expense you couldn’t afford. I grew up in a time where you just go to the store and get what you want whenever you need it. Today’s generation has other people cooking for them and an ap on their phone to order it and deliver it to their house.
When I compare my generation, my dad’s generation, and younger generations to my grandfather’s I come to the conclusion that we are all pretty much spoiled rotten children who’ve never really known hard times to appreciate that which we have, and are probably least prepared to do without it If hard times revisited us all once again.

My paw paw was born on a plantation still run by the descendants of freed slaves in 1919 in Mississippi.
He grew up in depths of the Great Depression, remembered his dad riding a horse to work and got dropped off in France 2 days after D Day at 25.
I'd say we had it slightly easier than he did
He lived until almost 100. He died just a few years ago and was still sharp mentally. He was like talking to a living history book.

We got our asses beat all the time. A parent used to be at home raising the kids and teaching values and what it meant to be a polite member of society. Now they are raised with TV, video games, and day care.
