If anything it is the fault of parents of Gen Xers not the kids themselves.

Everything happening in Portland, Seattle, and places of the like is a direct result of piss poor parenting and failure to discipline.
Stupid can’t be fixed.

I find myself having a knee-jerk reaction to that in my own parenting style. So, I blame the baby boomers.
How about taking a look in your mirror.

Wait... your parents would spank you when you were a teenager?

55 and I agree with you. My wife and I were raised much the same way. Both of our kids are adults who are upstanding citizens with good manners and respect for authority and elders. Two grandkids now being raised the same way. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!
You must have triggered a bunch of snowflakes from the looks of all the RAs you got.
So one Gen Xer agrees with the OP...even though they claim to have raised great kids, themselves. Makes perfect sense.

I'm 56 and I'm glad they have broken free of the oppressive, fascist regime.

Placing the blame at generations and not looking at the true core issues is a big reason why this country has the problems it does. Then you have leaders from both parties who just punt shite off to the next man up. Then take the most shortsighted solution that keeps them in a position of power without tackling the core problem. It's the easy road instead of the long road. I know Democrats especially love to pander to this flavor of the month policy. Republicans are not innocent either. Our bipartisan system has some serious flaws in it.
tl;dr our leaders have completely failed this country in both parties. I really dislike generation blame games. look at how your leaders impacted each one of these groups. these leaders are a direct result of why you have the problems you do in what you describe. not sure how anyone can't see this.

Yes, because obviously we are outliers.
Those of us born in the mid-late 60's are much more closely aligned to the values of baby boomers anyway for the most part. The kids being born to hippies in the early 70's is where it started going downhill fast.

Hippies were baby boomers. Plus, they were a minority amongst their generation.

I'm an OG GenXer. Raised two Conservatives.

The hippies *were* baby boomers. Then a lot of them became materialistic yuppies in the 80s. Funny how that happens.

Liberals ruined America.

I'm an X'er and I totally agree with you on the bad parenting part. Total failure on the part of millions of single parents. Exceptions are rare, but I've seen a few.

Gen X were born in 65-83.
Millennials (Gen Y) were born 84-02.
Zoomers (Gen Z) started in 03 and will be complete next year.
quote:you are completely off base. The early Oregon trail generation are basically gen Xers and took no such party in the shananagans going on in the country. It is the last half of millennials that give them a bad name.
Gen X is better than the Generation before and after them. However, there is something interesting with Millennials. The Reagan babies that Boomers had and the Zillennials (99-02) the Xers had are much better off than the Millennials in the middle (89-98).
Zillennials are all over the place. They are very much like their Gen X/Reagan baby parents in that they reject the typical and seek out for themselves and want to break new ground, but some of them want to experience too much of what their elders did and that’s why you have old problems rising again that were solved decades ago (Civil Rights, Communism, etc.)

1966 is right on the cusp of Gen X. Most grew up after the women's rights uprising meaning they were done of the first latchkey kids. Thankfully I'm on the young end of Gen X who got all the benefits while not having to deal with the shite millennials caused.

Nothing in your ignorant rant pointed to this except for maybe your Gen X dad raising a moron. The generational blame game is the dumbest thing on this board and social media. No one generation is good or bad or to blame for anything. There are good and shitty people in every generation. There are shitty Millennial's and some that have their shite together. There are shitty Boomers and some great ones too. Get over yourself and stop blaming anyone but yourself for your issues. Although i would say your white trash parents probably had a hand in your shitty life.

I blame participation trophies.
Like is full of winning and losing situations, you have to learn how to deal with it.
