Also, I don't really think this gay baw truly believes in the miracle of transubstantiation.

He was probably trying to be fabulous and have everybody see him "gettin some communion", like it's some kind of fashion statement.

And that's not just limited to him. A lot of dumbass Catholics are the same way.

Didn't the church pass out a pamphlet stating that you should not receive communion without a clean conscience? Essentially you may need to go to confession first?

You'd think that since the number of people receiving communion far outweigh the number of people going to confession, they'd refuse a lot more people.

I think it's fricked up, but the church has that right. I just don't know why the church is so pissed off at gays when I guarantee that other people taking communion had much more heinous sins than that to refuse communion over, and hell, probably the gay guy himself had done worse things he hadn't apologized over. The guy was just trying to make a point and was a bit of a dick about it.

As a straight man, I deny churches to offer me communion unless they serve wine (instead of grape juice).

They are not pissed off at gays.

Agree. But which ones? The priest can only deny communion to the people that admit that they are not in a state of grace.

If you want communion, go to confession and get right with God. Otherwise move along.

Why is this a story? Shouldn't the church be allowed to conduct it's activities as it see'a fit?
First amendment rights to freedom of religion, remember?

You either have grace, or you don't. And one cannot acquire grace.

Right, but I think it has more to do with how he openly chooses to live his life.

How religious of them. Love all as God would my arse.
It is forbidden by God to have communion if there is unconfessed sin. If a person is living a gay life, that would imply unconfessed/unrepentant sin, therefore should not engage in communion. Even if it weren't forbidden, it would still be stupid and pointless. Anyone living is sin obviously isn't following Jesus. There is a difference between living in sin and being imperfect.

But who else did this priest deny communion to? Did he deny it to a ridiculously fat person for gluttony? How about the guy whose been living in his parents' basement for 15 years off of sloth? I think he should be an equal opportunity offender here if he's going after a gay guy.
