No, the shooter there didn't know it was a gay club. Common misconception since the media/politicians jumped on that explanation early.
The shooter at Pulse even asked security "where are all the women?"

Seems like previous bomb threat was covered up or paid off by family.
I'm willing to bet that having to hide his sexuality and probably getting scorned by a lover set him off.
