What exactly was I wrong about? What part of what I said was factually incorrect?

I'm eagerly waiting for your response and rebuttal.

Maybe watch the video in the OP all the way through and somehow come up with a defense for anything he said. He pretty much missed on everything and added a bunch of irrelevant filler like Lincoln being racist - to support his argument that the flag should stay.

Secondly, after further research today, I'm not sure if the holocaust was worse than the transcontential slave trade and the shackling of the black diaspora across the world. It might be the westerns biggest (diversity) accomplishment and greatest sin

What? And now you've lost it. There was no such thing as that which you are even talking about. Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade was a real thing, and it happened over the course of 3 centuries and accounted for 12 million Africans transported. No clue as to what happened after they were transported, but I dont assume they were transported to be killed, because then whats the point of having a slave at all?

In comparison, the Holocaust was the DEATH of 6 million jews in ]4 YEARS[/u], and they were segregated solely for the purpose of their extinction. People like you need to chill out, because you're getting yourself so worked up that you're sounding delusional.

Just because they admitted slaves were involved in their past doesn't mean they helped build the company. If this is your leg to stand on for the "slaves built america" argument then it's not a strong one.

You sound angry, maybe you should go burn down an innocent persons business.

Well, to be fair - the overall message was about states' rights... as it relates to being able to own slaves.

People didn't really start arguing that it didn't have anything to do with slavery until much, much later - and we can obviously see by reading the Commissioners' pleas for secession that they are wrong.

The outcry for secession at the time was based almost entirely around keeping the right to own slaves.

Point well taken.

The Radical Republicans wanted to harshly punish the Southern military & political leaders with death, land confiscation, etc.....

" Treason must be made odious & traitors must be punished & impoverished....their social power must be destroyed . If not they will maintain an ascendency ....and when traitors become numerous treason becomes respectable".

Treason has surely become respectable in the South post Civil War.

Not calling for barbarity or a bloodbath ,but do you feel the Union was too magnanimous after the war?

Here's another piece debunking McInnes' claim that the Civil War didn't have anything to do with slavery.

I think that's a great question that opens up a lot of possible discussion.

A lot of people feel like post-war reconstruction was harsh on southerners... and to an extent, that may be true. However, I think when you compare the way the Southern leaders were treated to the standard of those throughout the rest of history - they were treated very, very well. I definitely think an argument can be made that the Union leaders were too soft on the secessionists following the war.

Realistically, it only took about a decade following the war for those southern political leaders to re-establish themselves in the political spectrum fairly successfully.

Another difference that probably reduced the potential repercussions was that for the most part, there wasn't continued large scale rebellion and fighting during reconstruction. Most of the Confederate generals and political leaders were tired of the bloodshed and were more than willing to put it behind them and try to rebuild their lives.

It's my fault for not looking it up earlier, but this isn't true.

He has an English degree. I can't find any evidence of him having a degree in History.

And here is an article he wrote in which he references his English degree and goes on a tirade about how everything he learned while earning that English degree was a lie:

So, again - I'm not sure why we're putting any credence in what a Canadian - who got his English degree from a school in Montreal, Canada and claims everything he learned while pursuing that degree was a lie - has to say about American History as it relates to the Civil War.

I keep waiting for you to make a good point. You don't really seem to know as much about history as you are claiming. It's like you e read one book and keep referencing it over and over again.

Obviously the people in power wanted to preserve slavery.

The poor common men fighting for the Confederacy were fighting to protect their home. Many of them hadn't ever seen a slave. That's the people Southerner's think about when they bring up Southern pride.

Of course there's an extremely small fraction (remember 330+ million people live in the US) who use that history as a means to their twisted white supremacy views.
