LOL are you trying to argue what I am saying isn't true?

If you can show me where they said slaves working in a field somewhere helped build their company then I'll retract my statement. I'm not talking 5 degrees of Kevin Bacon here either. Link?

You do understand that I'm not referring only to state governments, correct? When I say "local government" I'm talking about all municipalities across the South.

ok

quote:

USA Today reported that Wachovia Corporation (now owned by Wells Fargo) has apologized for its ties to slavery after disclosing that two of its historical predecessors owned enslaved Africans and accepted them as payment. “On behalf of Wachovia Corporation, I apologize to all Americans, and especially to African-Americans and people of African descent,” said Ken Thompson, Wachovia chairman and chief executive officer, in the statement released late Wednesday. “We are deeply saddened by these findings.”

You're moving the goal post, but go ahead and give some examples of municipalities that flew the confederate battle flag. Let's see them.

I'm not moving shite. I used the state flags as an example, but I repeatedly said local governments. I'm sorry you didn't comprehend that can include the buildings of local municipalities.

Gavin McInnes: 5 Reasons Not to Ban the Confederate Flag
Here's an example. This was Georgia's state flag was some variation of this flag from it's inception until 1956.

In 1954 the SCOTUS decides in Brown v. Board of Education that segregation is unconstitutional.

In 1955 the Feds say that public busses and trains should be desegregated.

In 1956 a defiant Georgia makes this their new state flag:

Great post.

Those flags didn't come out of the closets in earnest until 1948 when Dixiecrats like Strom Thurmond were angry at Truman for desegregating the military.

No, you are. You make a over generalized statement like Mr. History, but now back tracking like him...

quote:

Funny how nobody flew that confederate flag for 90 years until the civil rights movement and desegregation in the early 60's.

So, which is it, "nobody" or "all municipalities across the South."

Either way, you're wrong.

No you stupid frick, who would give a shite if your dumbass scenario was the case?!

quote:

Wachovia revealed on June 1 that one of the banks put hundreds of slaves to work on railroads and another accepted more than 100 more as collateral on defaulted loans in the 1800s. Wachovia, one of the nation's largest banks, was required by the city of Chicago to investigate its past to participate in the redevelopment of a housing project on the city's South Side

The politician behind putting the confederate battle flag on the Georgia flag in 1956 was also a Democrat who staunchly opposed desegregation.

So you used state flags as an example but meant municipal flags?

I'm still very interested in seeing some examples.

This is what's so funny about the staunch defenders of that redneck flag. They have no idea about the real reason it came back.

Still waiting on you to respond to Mr. History.

You should re-watch the whole video beforehand. You mistook several of his arguments for mine and actually agreed with most of what I said while you were trying to "school me".

It feels like you were just looking for an argument based on your other posts in this thread.

What's really funny (or sad) is that people like you really believe we are defending the "redneck flag" when what we're actually doing is defending the right to display it..... Do you really think it makes sense that eBay would take confederate flags off the market but leave Nazi ones???
