I went from $4.00 for diesel here in Little Rock to $4.49 a gallon when I drove by this morning
Reg gas went from 3.29 to 3.59 at the cheaper place and it's already at 3.69 at the majority

That's $0.30 since Sunday and it'll get worse.
Dems will keep buying oil from Russia.
GOP will only arm-wave and spout red-faced rhetoric.

I have several friends and it has happened to me as well who haven't even gotten a COLA in the last 5 years, then have health insurance cost go up, and basically bringing home less money paycheck to paycheck.
I mean, I think that is happening to millions of people.
I have gotten a raise every year the past 20 years other than 2008 & 2009 but it's usually been like 3-4%. I guess that's better than some people.
I was working in the financial industry in 2008 and was just happy to be employed.
But yeah, a 3% raise in normal times means you are barely treading water. The government skews inflation data to look more favorable. It's usually 6% or somewhere around there.

You’d need an 8% raise for 2021 just to keep up with inflation.
I'm painfully aware of that.

Welcome to the real world. I’ve never gotten more than 4% in 20% years.
I think it's easy for people who are used to getting 10% + annually to assume it to be normal, but most industries don't do that, and haven't for many years.

man i assure you that the average American who works directly for or indirectly with the O&G industry in the states does not get a 10% raise annually. Most here recently are barely treading water with raises after inflation. This year, to your point, should be an adjustment year tho

I pumped gas and drove off this morning without paying

$2.85 here in nola. But that’s a shite hole city according to everyone here.

Yeah that was a pretty tone deaf post. 10-15% raises for simply doing your job are no where near normal.

When you are passing dealerships today and you see O&G baws looking at F350's think to yourself "I did that".
When gas was well under $2, some woman on Facebook was bitching about gas needing to be $5 per gallon or more so that her husband can start getting overtime again. That's not how life works, honey.
I've always budgeted my lifestyle on a 40 hour work week. Even when I was bringing in 44 hours of OT, I lived off the 40, saved the 44. I may not live in an extravagant home, drive top of the line vehicles, have a toy hauler or a side x side, but if I lost my job today, I can maintain my current lifestyle for 14 months.

Paid 3.75 this morning
Got a huge raise this year and I swear it feels like I’m still treading water.
Everybody happy about minimum wage going to $15 an hour are about to be extremely unhappy when a sandwich takes them an hours worth of work.

Brent crude went up to $121 barrel this morning … forecast to go to $200

This is obviously unrelated to O&G but Russia and Ukraine supply a lot of the world's wheat and fertilizer. Expect food costs to go up more too, like they weren't already high.
