Already heard on the radio in Atlanta that prices are expected to spike and they are expecting shortages. So yes - the media has already cranked up the panic.

Thank God I heard about this last night. I went and filled up all of my vehicles and yard equipment. Also bought 100 gallons of reserve to hold in my storage vat.

Drug tests don't have to be "random" if an employee runs a peice of equipment into a pipeline

I can say that in all likelihood someone circumvented a safety procedure to cause this. Any excavation should be identified with product and depth of cover. Special precautions like hand digging need to be performed very close to pipe. I'm a midstream contractor.

It is the same line....they bypassed the gas line a few weeks ago, they were doing work on the bypass last night when this happened.

This, or hydro-vac. I have heard some speculation about maybe a communication issue with the operator and his spotter but that is merely rumor.
I am a pipeline contractor and even though this is a competitor dealing with this tragedy, we as contractors are all going to be affected by this and need to learn from it moving forward.

Well...considering Colonial Pipeline is the main artery for finished petroleum products for the South East and Eastern Seaboard....
Gonna take a while to fix this.....again. The last leak put CPL behind 14 days.

Not the same line. This morning on the radio they were saying this was a line to transfer jet fuel.

Live in Atlanta. Heard on the radio that resources are in place and demand is much lower now than it was then. Could be up to a three week event but only then would there start to be shortages. No mention of implement price spike whatsoever.
