So about that "stolen valor"

I wouldn’t call it stolen valor. I’d just say he became the spokesperson/high profile name related to it. Either way, it’s semantics and it’s a great program regardless of who “runs” it

Don't care.. I work with several pilots who volunteered and flew snowball express this year. Also worked Skyball. I will volunteer to work both Skyball and snowball express next year.

Gary Sinise has done more true help for veterans as a private citizen than anyone I have ever heard about.

ETA: Don't forget to be sure to get your bid in by noon today...

I don't get what you're trying to achieve here... do you need a pat on the back? I guarantee Sinise could do more for the charity than you could ever dream of.

GTFOH Christ, not everything has to be political.

The dude does great things like mentioned in the OP. He's not doing this shite for glory or accolades, he's doing it because these are causes near and dear to his heart. He's a good man. Let's just celebrate his contributions instead of trying to turn everything into some political bias conspiracy.

Gary Sinise is about as patriotic an American as there is, and he truly appreciates the sacrifices of the military.

It's not the type of story the MSM wants to focus on wo you rarely hear about it.

you guys can be so d-u-m dum sometimes, I volunteer my time to snowball express, and have for years, all I did was point out that Sinise is just a likeable pr face for the organization, doesn't really do that grunt work, pr and connections are his roles, nothing in the world wrong with that

You were trying to add a footnote, and are getting stomped.

Using the term Stolen Valor was the wrong choice of words here.

No big deal IMO, since you obviously have donated time and effort too.

Dude, (I mean Capt. Dude), I'm just here to yuck it up. Poke fun and laugh.

I certainly see the point you were trying to make, but you handled your view and the way you expressed it poorly. Don't worry about it, no one here will remember this in eight or nine years.

kind of did it tongue in cheek because of the Gump/Lt. Dan thing, got no strong feelings about it either way, this can be a pretty obtuse bunch at times, like most of the time

thank you for volunteering your time. The reason foundations are gobbled up by bigger foundations is to help bring in more funding and expand the charity.
Calling it "stolen valor" wasn't right. You could have said "We at American Airlines/Delta/whoever were doing that for years, and Gary Sinise's group took over" that would be factual.
Saying stolen valor would be, you had a charity, then Sinise started a different one and used your work to advance without credit to your company. That is not what is happening here.

Are you saying Senise is a fraud and should not be applauded? It sounds like that is what you are saying.

Are you saying you spend more time flying these kids then Sinise does working on this? Of course he doesn’t do the grunt work, that would make no sense at all. You don’t have Pilots serving coffee on the airplane either.

It sounds to me like the Snowball Express needed a partner to grow or continue financially, and that’s where Sinise’s charity came in. I don’t see how he is trying to steal anyone’s thunder. There’s likely a ton of people involved.
