Well, I mean, Sandra DID raise the POS. Had she done a better job of it, he'd likely be alive today.

There was an item on the agenda to defer a motion by a councilman asking the legislature to vote against a bill by Rep. Ted James allowing Baton Rouge's Chief of Police to be unclassified, meaning not subject to civil service rules, rather than classified as it is now.

The motion was totally unrelated to the Alton Sterling incident. It only has to do with allowing the mayor to replace the Chief of Police at will.

Several audience members got up one-by-one to speak in the "public hearing" part of the process. But instead of talking about the agenda item about the legislative bill, they started mouthing off about "Alton Sterling this" and "Police brutality that" and how the Po-Po needs to change their tactics.

The council chair kept telling them to stick to the topic of the legislative bill and not bring up the Alton Sterling incident.

After he would warn them, if they kept talking about the Sterling incident, he would ask the plain-clothes officers in the room to remove the person from the room.

Chambers was about the 4th or 5th person to approach the lectern to speak and he immediately went into "you're not letting people speak their mind about the Alton Sterling" stuff and the chair asked for him to be removed. He resisted somewhat, holding on to the lectern until 3 officers (I believe) got hold of him and walked him out.

There was no violence of any kind. The motion to defer the agenda item passed without objection, as I recall.
