GALVESTON, Texas - Testing in Galveston County has found indicators of high levels of fecal bacteria in the area's beaches, though the number is going down.

Seventeen beaches -- nearly a third of Galveston's 52 beaches -- had high levels reported Tuesday morning. In another round of testing late Tuesday afternoon, the number had dropped to three.

"It's absolutely disgusting, but not surprising," said Jeanice Dawes, who was relaxing on the beach Tuesday with her niece and nephew nearby.

I love the beach, but I don't understand the point of going to shitty beaches.

I'd bet on my apartment complex pool in this matchup any day. (Double or nothing on Mondays)

Yes

Basically everyone in the central United States takes a shite, flushes the toilet and it all flows down the Mississippi River and rolls right up onto Holly Beach

People from out of state can GTFO. We have plenty of people from other cities within Texas that come and enjoy the beaches and The Strand

Worst beaches along the gulf coast.

Grand Isle is paradise compared to Galveston Beaches.

There is fecal bacteria everywhere, on everyone. People need to get over it.

Old folks with their 50 year old septic systems that do not work anymore. They just drain raw sewage into the waterways.

What fun would that be? It would totally negate the chance to bash something. Wouldn't want THAT to happen, it's the OT, after all.
