Well frick. Guess I’ll have to just let him sit in his room and play fricking fortnight for that one weekend a month we were going to spend at tournaments hanging out, swimming, and playing a great sport with 12 of his friends and their families.

He'll get playing with his friends and presumably having fun, and getting away from pushy daddy for an hour or so. That's something. Not everything a kid does needs to have goals.

Many travel teams are comprised of kids that dont have a local league to play in anymore.

Not enough kids are in small towns playing baseball to have enough teams for a league. These kids form teams all of the time. There are a couple small towns that produce some good little teams for their size.

You take an average team and give them a few pitchers that are dominant and you can win any where.

Because playing video games is the only other thing your little Braelynn could do outside of travel ball...

This is the worst thread. I played Travel Baseball for like 6-7 years and I had some of the best times of my life and have made many friends through it. Also, it helped me earn a scholarship to my high school. Sorry y’all weren’t athletic and didn’t make the teams.

Actually national 8u tournaments don’t exist. There are over a hundred “World Series”. It’s just another tourney held at the end of the year.

We play all sports and prefer Travel baseball than having one lame league game per week.

You guys hate on what you don’t understand. There is nothing wrong with teams playing a weekend tournment, the kids love it.

So many people on here are quickly triggered by this statement. It’s pretty damn funny.

Bryce Harper played in coopertown for a different team about every week when he was 12u.

But it's not what got Bryce Harper to MLB.

The obsession with travel ball lives on. I enjoy the humor though.

Take the time you would be traveling and go play your sport locally for fun. Why travel for 5 hours to play 1 hour when you could have stayed home and played 5 hours?
Plus kids pick up on stress of parents spending thousands of dollars on a weekend and learn to hate the sport.

There are also kids that hate a sport, but play it because they will do almost anything to please their dad, I know this because I was one of them.

The thing about travel ball is that each weekend IS the tournament. Win it, get to the finals, or have a bad one...it’s over. It means nothing. Unlike seasons where your results hang over you, this is over by Sunday at 3.

I’m talking soccer, but in that it’s 4 games over two days if you’re in the finals...That’s a frick ton. That’s what my boy’s tired of. He went to watch the high school playoffs tonight, and he commented on how hard he could try if it were just one game.

He plays middle all game and he has, by the nature of game play, a ton of stress until they’ve secured each win. That’s sport, but it’s tough. Its learning to deal.

It’s a numbers game how far you have to travel.

So you're saying all your son does is play fortnite or baseball? You must be a great parent. What do you feed him? Doritos and mountain dew?

We decided we wanted to keep the boys together, and just have more control of practice and coaching Yep. Case in point.

Ha! We decided...as in a group of dads...I asked my son if he wanted to play on a team with all his friends again....told him we could pick the team name, jerseys, etc....needless to say, the kids were beyond excited.

“More control” in the sense that with Dixie you never know what you’re gonna get. In Fall Ball we just played in a league that was a mix of travel teams and then individual players that all tried out, and the split those players up into to 3 times.

Terrible coaches, couldn’t have cared less...1 practice a week sharing a field with the other 3 teams....it was pretty much a waste....the coaches couldn’t have cared less and it took a lot of the fun out of playing for the kids on the team.

That is all I meant by those comments you misconstrued. But you have the right to your opinion.

So, you are saying the coaches cared a lot? What’s wrong with that? I’d be concerned if they COULDN’T care less.
