I learned this as a kid going grocery shopping with my mom. You go to the local grocery store to do your grocery shopping, but you don't by your cleaning products, etc at a grocery store because those are "convenient products". People stop off if they need that product and is in a hurry, otherwise you then go to walmart to get your gain and other clothes washing items, your pine-solve, soap, shampoo, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, tooth paste, mouth wash, etc..
Its not fricking price discrimination its simple supply and demand.

If Pepsi charges more or has less of a discount that is their business. The consumer will take care of it.

If I choose to pay a little more for convenience and quickness or so I don't walk out with 50.00 of crap I don't really need that's on me. I don't need the government to police decisions like that.

Why do Democrats demonstrate every day that they don't have the foggiest notion about the very basics of economics?

This probably started with EBT and grocery bills for low income minorities including Indians. They are too dumb and lazy to grocery shop in a store once a week, so instead they get ripped off by paying higher prices daily at local convenience store.
ETA: low income white trailer trash are the same but let’s be honest no one in Washington gives a frick about them

The FTC now wants to ban the practice of bulk volume discounted pricing.
I know this won’t happen
But based
ETA: I guess now we see if manufacturers are more powerful than the Walmarts and amazons of the world

Democrats' economic stupidity started with idiotic schemes like the New Deal, Social Security, etc. But, they really reach their brain-dead peak whenever they talk about "costs". Only liberals would fail to realize that dumping trillions into a specific industry such as healthcare via scams like Medicare and Medicaid would do nothing to make those services more affordable for the average American. They only cause massive inflation and allow doctors to afford hotter wives.

The agency argues Pepsi gave Walmart promotional payments and allowances, as well as advertising and promotional tools, that it didn't offer to the retail giant's rivals.
Further reading online seems the suit might be more focused on non-pricing allowances. Strongly suspect this is Walmart’s online platforms that Pepsi is supporting and advertising within (and paying for).
It ain’t Pepsi’s fault that 7/11 doesn’t have a fully baked out e-commerce strategy

7/11 could move to an Amazon model where the hobo delivers the beer and cigarettes to your house

So what now, since Taco Bell has an app that allows bogo deals when purchased on the app and picked up that’s illegal because the local food truck taco guy doesn’t have e-commerce ability?

This would be a competitive game changer. In the medical fields for example corporations have a massive advantage over smaller competition just because their costs (purchase prices) are massively lower.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong in the US. Smart people create a business, dumbasses run for office.

I'd be curious to see how much of a difference Walmart is getting in comparison to other businesses that don't carry anywhere near the volume.
Coke, Pepsi, Phillip Morris, etc all have discounts and rewards for volume. Phillip Morris will send you a check every quarter. I used to get one when I owed my gas station. The more volume, the bigger the check.
A little secret a lot of people don't know is that all of the Indian gas station owners form a buyers group. With that buyer group, they can place huge bulk orders so they qualify for bigger discounts and bigger refund checks. I tried to join but I am a white dude so they discriminated. It's a private group so they can do as they please and accept who they please. The volume they move is why they are usually cheaper on tobacco products and they also get promotional tobacco products other stores don't get. Liz Warren would say that's unfair but it's business and smart on their part.
There are other buyer groups for gas station owners to join but sadly many of them around here just order from Churchpoint Wholesale and overpay for their candy bars and 2 packs of medicine because it's easy for them and they know people expect to pay higher prices in a convenience store.

This is what happens when a bunch of liberal arts majors run a government department that should be run by a MBA and economist.

Like Coke doesn't do the same thing?
