In some cities, you are not allowed to back into a hotel parking place.

It's so the license tag readers can check who's at the hotel. Sorta pissed me off but the hotel said it was a law.

I guess front tags would give the police and cameras better access to your plates.

That’s $25 on top of the emission and registration I’m already paying for yearly? Nah I’m ok.

Zero Teslas have a front plate. Why isn’t it required for them?

I see quite a few vehicles around Texas without a front plate just curious if this is risky or not
The vehicle code in Texas requires front plates, but I'm also noticing a lot of cars without them recently.

I guess for higher end cars the owners might be trying to avoid having the screwholes in their front bumper.

It is they just choose to run the risk of paying fines.

This is always an issue on car forums because car guys in general hate front plates and a lot of them choose not to run them. It is like dark tint they just choose to pay the "tax". A lot of guys with "nice" cars use Cabonio tag frames because you can remove the tag and replace it any time you want to.

By this do you mean paying fines if ticketed? I've had 5% tints on previous vehicles but keep mine legal these days.

I guess the folks who have limo tints on the front side windows either know someone who works at an inspection shop or remove them before having the vehicle inspected then add them back afterwards.

In Texas it's more of a heat reduction tool than a privacy one, but it definitely reduces your ability to see at night.

South Carolina did away with front license plates and vehicle inspections probably 40 years ago.

Seems like you can get away with it if you don’t have anything in the front. The minute you put a purple LSU vanity plate on the front it draws attention so increases your chances of getting caught.

Like another person said earlier it’s likely ok in Houston metro but once you get in rural towns around south Texas it just gives them bored officers a reason to pull you over

Put clear tint on your windshield. It's fabulous at reducing heat transfer.

I see so many Texas plates driving around BR....I wonder what percentage of them are counterfeit?

Most of the airport rentals out of BTR, LFT, and MSY are Texas tags.

False. I was with my buddy and we got pulled over for it.

It is also a good reason for a cop to perform a pretextual stop. Lack of front tags (in front tag states), things hanging from the rear view mirror, and license plate frames that cover or partially cover the state name are all prime reasons for a cop to stop you and try to find other violations.

I have never lived in a state that required a front plate. However, I would not have a problem it it serves some valid purpose.

Texans do. If you move to Louisiana and have a Texas-registered vehicle, then you have like 60 or 90 or maybe 120 (I forget) days to re-register it here, or else you're violating Louisiana law.

As for what Louisiana should do: how about we spend a year dedicated to impounding every vehicle that lacks a valid rear license plate, and then if somebody wants to discuss the costs and benefits of requiring front license plates, we can revisit the topic.
