Except, firearms. Hollywood treats them differently. A 24 year old non expert was put in charge.
Which if you read the posting here of the comments by a Hollywood assistant director is not typical, was the result of cutting corners to save money, but it’s not hard to find examples of ignoring safety to cut cost in any industry.

A actor that has never owned, touched, or fired a firearm gets hired to play a part in a movie where they use a gun, and you expect them to show up knowing firearm safety, and have the knowledge to determine whatever weapon, revolver, semiautomatic, shotgun, rifle they are given is safe to handle? It would be reckless for the producer of the movie to assume that, and is why there are normally trained people on set to assure firearm safety. Likewise why would a actor with zero knowledge of firearm safety think a crew member on a movie set would give them a firearm that was not safe to handle?
Actors do all kinds of shite to prepare for their roles… they grow hair, they shave it, they gain or lose weight, they get ripped, etc.
Why shouldn’t they have to learn gun safety basics for roles that require it, almost like a certification that us normal people have to get?

. I’d be saying the same thing if it happened to Keanu
I would probably be harder on Keanu. Keanu knows guns, Alec is a fricking idiot who I have no doubt doesn't know how to operate carefully..
Baldwin can defer to his stupidity.
To you low T people defending Baldwin, he deserves every bit of it.

]"I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone," [/b] Baldwin, who is known for his political activism, tweeted on September 22, 2017. He was commentating on how a Huntington Beach police officer fatally shot a young man during a struggle in front of a 7-Eleven store. It was later determined Huntington Beach Police Officer Eric Esparza "acted unreasonably"
Guess what? Now he knows.

Correct. Who makes those decisions?

Pointing at someone?
Probably standard procedure in movies with a gun that is certified as “cold”

Hiring an inexperienced "expert?"
Not Baldwin’s job. As I pointed out in the previous post, Baldwin was probably given a ceremonial title and a sinecure. His actual job was acting (and maybe helping Kim Jong IL). On the other hand, if he actually had a role in managing the film then he is probably culpable.

Ignoring previous safety issues, including live fire?
Again, that is not Baldwin’s job. By that reasoning, the dead girl is also responsible.

There are tons of actual expert statements in this thread and others that contradict that. Its a no go.

You mean, the owner and supervisor ARENT responsible for the set?

Say it louder for the idiots in the back that think gun safety can be proxied out to everyone except the person actually handling the firearm.

Progressives claim firearms are too difficult to expect an actor to understand how to operate safely..
It must be left in the hands of a 24 year old neophyte who has already had issues on the set.
Cop shoots black dude who was attacking him, Progs are all over that.
Baldwin cuts corners, kills someone because of his own shitty hire and lack of safety on set, and they blame the people who call him out.
You just can't make that shite up.

These threads are sad. I’m sure the dude is dealing with all kinds of remorse and guilt, he didn’t try and kill someone. Yes he should’ve checked that it was safe but also he was handed it by an expert he trusts and has probably done the same hundreds of time so felt safe.
Overall it’s a really sad situation for everyone especially the lady who was shot and her family, I’m not sure why some people think Baldwin deserves to be arrested? Just because you hate him?
This is hilarious.
Someone is dead because Baldwin shot them. I'm sure their family is very concerned with how bad Baldwin feels and how safe he felt pointing that firearm without following ANY gun safety procedures.
I fricking hate that we live in a society that panders to ignorance.

The producer, which in this case I think is Baldwin.

Firearms are pointed at people in every single action movie you’ve ever watched.
No they aren't. That all changed after Brandon Lee. It is all movie magic now and no one actually ever has a gun pointed at them if it is to be fired. If you see a gun pointed at someone it has shaved down or no firing pins and is incapable of firing.

then yes.

Who pulled the trigger on The Crow?
You do know that what happened on the crow was very different, right?
A squib round was lodged in the barrel from a previous mistake and it was later propelled out by firing the blank.
Also, the protocols have all changed as a result of the Brandon Lee incident. No gun capable of firing is pointed directly at anyone on set anymore.
quote:
During a fight scene, another actor fired what was supposed to be blank ammunition at Brandon Lee, but the gun wasn’t empty. When it was used earlier in the filming, a piece of a bullet had broken off inside the gun barrel, and the weapon wasn't cleaned before it was used for the fatal scene.
The bullet fragment entered Lee’s stomach. Despite five hours of emergency surgery, the 28-year-old star died.
That was a complete freak accident. What Alec did during rehearsal was stupidity.

All extreme instances of absolute last resort when means of peaceful conflict resolution have failed.

At the end of the day the person shooting the weapon is responsible for checking if it is loaded or not no matter what they are told.
True, but he is more at fault for being a producer of the movie than the person who pulled the trigger. Based on what I have seen, the armorer and the 1st AD are primarily the ones to blame for improper gun safety on set.
