This was my first attempt at using oils for weathering. This was built 10 or so years ago and is Tamiya’s excellent 1/35 Tiger done in Otto Carius’ markings. Haven’t built any armor since I returned to Modeling. It was painted Model Master enamels.

Thanks man. This is the one we talked about. The only armor I've built and it was some 10 or more years ago. Hate painting all those road wheels

Yeah. Road wheels take some patience, especially Tiger variants with their interlaced road wheels.

Once you get good at recovery, you can use smaller-sized tackle.

The trick is not to pull hard quick on stuff; slow and steady generally is the best way if you don't have to bust something out of the mud or other shite.

Tanks in WWII (especially German ones) were famous for breaking down or running out of gas and many places they were used there was only a narrow throughway available.

Not to mention tanks (and other wheeled equipment) getting damaged due to hostile action.

So to move ahead (or retreat) they commonly had to move broken and/or damaged stuff out the way.

The skill of towing and recovery was in the job description of a WWII tank crew.

Nice work on the big cat. I recently finished AFV‘s Scimitar, and now working on Tamiya‘s M-24 Chaffee.

I painted those before I installed them. I have a couple more armor kits I'll do one day

Via Wikipedia and I recall reading the same elsewhere:

iger I tanks needed a high degree of support. It required two or sometimes three of the standard German Sd.Kfz. 9 Famo heavy recovery half-track tractors to tow it.

I read his book.
