Well I see on Facebook he has reached out to people in friends with to try and sell to them by using me as a reference. I called him out on it and he played it off like he was just adding friends on Facebook and not trying to sell directly to them. Now my wife gets pissed and tells his wife they need to stop.

Or you can just have a decent job.

The travel line is what gets me the most with these. Numerous jobs require travel. Of course it’s free - its a business trip. Just because this company has somehow convinced you they’re giving you free vacations just because you took your husband with you doesn’t mean you’re actually getting a free vacation. Any time I’ve ever heard of a pyramid scheme person going on a trip, it was a low level all inclusive and they had to sit through seminars and training. That’s not a free vacation.

The only people making money in these MLMs are those at the top and 90% of the income is from speaking at conventions for their brand. Not from actually selling product.

The schemes that focus on selling a product more than recruiting are still schemes. They require you to purchase the merchandise and then you sell that. So for example, that’s ugly legging company requires you to place an order every month or something and if you don’t sell them all, and you won’t, it makes no different to them because they already got the money for them.

As soon as I saw the roster I took a pen and wrote CF next to his name and told my wife he is batting last. This guy will make the entire team hate him by May. He will invite everyone over for a team party and have a fricking presentation prepared like that couple in Couples Retreat

The last conversation we had he told me he was the happiest he had ever been and closer to god because of Team National. It’s gotta be a cult. Now his fat wife is posting Team National quotes on Facebook each day for inspiration. And yet they sell memberships so you can get discounts possibly later on. Don’t remember Jesus trying to help people get 20% off a desk chair.

It's one of about two reasons my wife and I are currently separated. Drove me nuts with that crap. Told her if I wanted to be in sales, I get into sales.

Pyramid schemes or religion? The answer is the same: A lot of people will ignore rational thought and believe in these things that promise extraordinary returns.

Well if you’re always recruiting people to recruit more people who the hell actually buya the product that makes people rich?

There's a documentary on Netflix about Herbalife and accusations that it's a pyramid scheme. The impression that I got was that most of the sales are to the people trying to become distributors for the company as they're significantly more expensive than comparable products you can buy through normal retail outlets.

in a pyramid scheme the product is not what pays the person on top. They have a sign up fee. A guy came to me with team national and they had a sign up fee of like 2500 or 5000 dollars to "start your own business". But don't worry its tax deductible!
The money is generated from signing new people up and portion of the sign up fee goes all the way to the top.
