I met elderly couple once that had a great story. They met on a street corner a few nights before the old boy was set to ship off for WW2.
Dude obviously hit it hard and fell even harder, because they got married the next day before he left. She waited for him, probably taking a bunch of side dick in the process, but they had been together over fifty years by the time I met them.

Post separation, I had a fairly adventurous few months. Started to get really tired.
Met this girl for drinks and instead of trying to close it, I hung on her every word for four hours. Our second date, we went to New Orleans and got pizza. Ate the most garlicky food I've ever had and she laughed amd said she wasn't going to kiss me for the first time smelling like a garlic whore
Third date every restaurant we went to was closed. Ended up at pluckers in a corner and stayed for 8+ hours laughing and talking.
Date four she came to the house. Sealed the deal and she never left. It was the oddest transition ever. It always felt comfortable. It was illogical. Unplanned. Profoundly stupid.
That was a few years ago now. It just feels right.
I joke and say the magic stick is what made her stay.
She was the first date I went on where the goal wasn't immediate sex. Instead I ended up meeting the woman I should have found at 25. Crazy how life works.
