they have a lot of health problems. I would avoid getting a dog from a breeder, just simply due to health problems.

Hope you meant to say "reputable" breeder, otherwise you comment is nonsensical.

in point of fact, they do not have any more health problems than any other pure bred dog.

They are also very jealous of other dogs and will attack if they think the other dogs getting too much attention. They ganged up and killed one dog because he was in the house too much while he was sick.

I call BS or a very shitty breeder/blood line.

Daughter's play with my pup and plays with a full grown Black Lab my daughter has.

yeah, my FBD is one of seven dogs. She gets along fine with all of them. Only jealousy she shows is trying to get in my lap for attention when I pet the other dog(s).

pure bred dogs have health problems. End of story. Mutts will be much lower cost, and probably a better dog too.

Been there. Expensive purchase, more expensive vet bills, expensive food requirements, allergic to basically everything, maybe not quite as dumb as people claim they are, but she did seem to piss/shite inside on purpose at times if that makes sense. Chewed everything, but preferred expensive furniture legs.

At about 2.5 years old she tried to bite my son. Not just a snap, but chased him through the house so shes no longer anybody's problem
So you killed your dog because it was expensive and you didn't know how to properly train it?

Nice

Over the years we had a couple of mutts followed by two boxers. Now, we'll never have anything but boxers. One was smart. One was less so. Both were amazing family dogs and so affectionate.

BTW, I'd take a less intelligent dog over an intelligent dog any day.

Less intelligent dogs can be more disciplined (they don't feel the urge to break rules as often). They can be less demanding. Less intelligent dogs can be more sociable (therefore great playmates for kids).
Less intelligent dogs can obey commands more often than smarter dogs (smarter dogs may want to do things their own way and may sometimes be rebellious). Less intelligent dogs can be more tolerant. On the other hand, a less intelligent dog will take longer to train.

Best of luck.

You’re talking out of your arse. And that’s coming from someone who has fostered/adopted a shite ton of mutts and owns a FBD. Higher maintenance for the FBD...sure. But a better dog? Doubtful. I’ve had shitty mutts and great mutts. Frenchies are no different. Depends on the dog.

But if the OP wants a FBD, get one. Get the mutt if the Frenchie needs a friend.

Hell, he can call me and I’ll take the Frenchie if it doesn’t work out.

Just a BTT. My daughter has placed 2nd for her 6 month old FBG non sporting dog. She will have to show again tomorrow. Her little pup is a outstanding breed/ back ground pup.

Go to the pound. Get a mut for $50 after shots.

The pound near you has dogs for $50? That's a super good deal. Near us it's more around $200-300

Consider a pug. Great with kids...can be lazy or active depending on you. Probably cheaper than a frenchy.

I second this. Pugs are little clowns. They love to make you laugh and thrive on human attention. They are like permanent toddlers themselves so they are wonderful with small children. Their personalities make up for the massive amount of shedding they do and how dumb they are.

Yes. My daughter has a Frenchie and the dog is lots of fun. Snorts like a pig, double jointed and somewhat aloof. Only issue is that they can't take temperatures above 80 degrees. Needs to be cooled off as this can be fatal.

We have one and although it started off as a lap dog that I didn’t want, I now regularly take it hunting and fishing all the time. It’s best friend is a huge bull mastiff and they get along great.

My daughters plays with their 100LB lab. Not so much with my pup. He's a a-hole alpha male and don't let any thing come in the yard other then a bitch GS twice his size.

Oh, she has to head down again tomorrow to show again. It's a three day showing.
