No. Heck no.
Dogs from the pound are much better.
They have all kinds, ages
Cheap
They really know you saved them
I don’t get why people spend tons of money on a dog. Get a pound puppy and go on a vacation or help the homeless
Why do people always fill these threads with posts about adopting? I get that it's a great thing to do to save a dog but sometimes people just want a purebred dog that they know where it came from. Parents' temperament, traceable lineage, etc. Nothing wrong with buying from reputable breeders.

Coonhounds are worse but not by alot.
Heath problems are the biggest concern with frenchies my uncle used to be a breeder of them. They are also very jealous of other dogs and will attack if they think the other dogs getting too much attention. They ganged up and killed one dog because he was in the house too much while he was sick. Once he got better and got out back outside in the pen. (They had a giant barn and beds to sleep in)
The good is they crave attention. They are funny and loyal as hell. And like most Bulldogs you can teach them to ride moving objects
I've literally been around hundreds of them in my life. Never seen one get aggressive towards humans but not saying it couldn't happen either.

Because they need to feel better about themselves and like they are better than the people that buy the pure breed dogs

Describes every contradictory post and is this trashy thread in the OT pretty well actually

As others have said, they aren’t all that smart, and don’t have that much personality.
I’m not sure what sort of function they serve.

I never thought I'd say this but I recommend a dachshund. My little man is a great guard dog; knows his boundaries; and he is wonderful with the kids.

Considering purchasing a French Bull Dog. Somewhat pricey. Does anyone have any experience with this breed? Shedding, health, temperament with kids, etc. Any information would help. Thanks in advance.
After owning a English Bulldog for 12 years I purchased a Frenchie. Honestly the best dog I have ever owned. She has the best personality, can play like a puppy but will quickly settle down. Wants attention and affirmation so will aim to please. Buy from a reputable breeder and they usually will guarantee them. They do shed but not terribly. Are fantastic with kids and other animals. Would definitely recommend the breed.

French Bull Dog.....should I?
If that's the only way you can get to first base, go for it.

Indeed. I have 2 young kids and relatively small yard so need something with minimal exercise needs.
I have a small fenced yard and a doggie door and she comes and goes as she needs. And her running mate is a long-haired daushund. Also mine isn’t stupid as others have opined.....go see the litter and see how they interact with their siblings.....that is how you choose the dog with the right intellect/temperment.

Mine’s 3 now. Reputable breeder and plenty of research with the breeder is a must.
A lot of health problems are related to puppy mills and breeders focused on profit rather than the dogs’ health. The breeder should allow you to visit their home and see the puppies/conditions. If they don’t, red flag. They should guarantee the health of the dog for a period of time.
Price is steep and yes, you could get a pound dog, but for me, a Frenchie met the traits I was looking for: low exercise (live in a high rise), goofy, playful, short hair, and small (mines 21 pounds full grown).

Hint: The dogs weren’t the issue.

Who cares how much a dog costs? They're going to be your best friend for 10+ years hopefully. And after you buy it, you wouldn't get rid of it for the world. Get exactly what you want. I'd never be cheap on purchasing a dog, not that I have anything wrong with pound or free dogs. That's just not an area to skimp on imo

Boston terrier is a cheaper version.
Yep, and much healthier. All bulldogs have tremendous vet bills.

Just get a small poodle or dachshund like a normal person. French bull dogs are just odd

No you shouldn’t but if you do your veterinarian will love you.
