BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Freddie Gray arresting officer Edward Nero has been found not guilty on all counts by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams. Nero faced charges of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office. Nero waived his right to a trial by jury. His bench trial began May 12 and final arguments were heard Thursday. Gray, a 25-year-old black man from the Sandtown area of Baltimore, died on April 19, 2015 of a spinal cord injury he sustained while in police custody. His death set off more than a week of protests followed by looting, rioting and arson that prompted a citywide curfew. Nero is one of six officers charged in relation to Gray’s death, and the second to be tried. Officer William Porter’s trial ended in a hung jury and mistrial in December.
Four other officers — Officer Garrett Miller, Lt. Brian Rice, Sgt. Alicia White and Officer Caesar Goodson Jr. — have not yet been tried. freddie gray officer new trials Goodson’s trial, which was already delayed once, is set to begin June 6. He was the driver of the van that transported Gray from the spot where he was arrested to the police station. When the van arrived at the Western District police station, Gray was already critically injured and unresponsive. Goodson faces charges of second-degree depraved heart murder, manslaughter, second-degree assault, two counts of vehicular manslaughter and misconduct in office.
I bet this young man won't be out there this time.

I'll await the cries of racism when I'm willing to bet lots of the people in the Baltimore justice system are black. Wouldn't surprise me if they were th majority, actually.

Will Nero fiddle if Baltimore burns?

What's not getting covered is the massive prosecutorial misconduct by the mayors and DAs offices.

Let's just pretend I'm the leader of a peaceful protest over this verdict. Wanna hear my speech?
LETS BURN DIS BITCH DOWN.

I'd go riot, but I have to work this week.

Really depends on how the media/government (same entity) report on it. If they want riots they will happen

Did I mention that not only is the Mayor a black woman, the DA is black woman - and the judge is also black.
It really cant get any better than this, no?

I had a conversation like this with a black guy who came into my office. He kept spouting off on how Jackson, MS is racist.
Mayor is black, Chief of Police is black, the attorneys are black, the Public Defender's Office is black, the police are black, the workers in the courts are black. WTF else do you want?
In fact, there is like one white judge left in Jackson and they are trying to run him out of town. The Public Defender's Office insults him publicly and shows him no respect in the courtroom. It's insane. I've dealt with my fair share of judges I don't like, but I will never disrespect them publicly, nor will I EVER show ANY disrespect in the courtroom.

Same shite here in Virginia

In fact, if you file suit in the city of Jackson, most attorneys would tell white attorneys to have a black attorney as co-counsel. Why? Because, you guessed it, THE JURIES ARE BLACK.
