Bruce has seemed to be pretty spot on with the track. Yes they have been bullish on it being more east then NHC and the GRAF was much more east. But this morning he was saying he thought the GRAF was a bit too far east and more likely to be through river parishes and LaPlace.

I am an amateur but that seems to be exactly what’s playing out. Landfall east of Morgan city, up to Houma, Laplace and north shore?

Maybe you and Boat can answer - the center of the storm on radar is not necessarily the center of the low pressure system, which is what the NHC tracks?

The NHC 4pm coordinates are NW of the center on radar, for example. Still in the "eye", but not the center.

Mandeville max wind gust projection just moved up from 44mph to 72 at midnight. National Weather Service site

And they just moved it again to 77.

How did that happen? 44 to 77 is a big jump

boat just proved it's more or less following the track lol

They're following the lowest pressure location of the giant eye, which is the NW portion of the eye
I was wondering about what they called the real center with an eye that wide.

I’ll be honest. I’m in LaPlace and my mood just changed. I was drinking beers getting right. Guess I better slow down

The main eyewall band in the NE quadrant ramped up. Hurricane Hunters were in that part of the storm and measured flight level winds at Cat. 2. With how that band was strengthening NHC made the call that surface winds would follow suit.
