First storm in my new house plus first storm with a baby. In Mandeville and we have a couple pine trees in the yard. Am I being a massive bitch worrying about them snapping and falling on the house?

You’ll never forget it. The first time I was in an eye was ‘95 when my father was stationed in Montgomery AL, as Opal came through. It was bizarre. I was 10 and stil remember how eerily still things were before the trees started swaying again.

The only other time I’ve been in the eye was more recently when Michael destroyed my family’s home in 2018. Let’s just say that experience was a little more intense and not nearly as peaceful as Opal…more of an “I’m drowning and need a gulp of air”, moment, before going under water again.

Mother Nature is unbelievably scary and terrifying yet beautiful and inspiring

Need to figure out how long to book a condo after this blows through metry tomorrow. Zeta was 5 days without power but beautiful weather afterwards. Ida was 2 weeks without power but we were already evacuated. Anything longer than two days I’m going to the beach with this forecast.

Experiencing the eye of a hurricane is apparently unreal and I’ve never had the chance

Only experienced once when i was younger during Andrew but looking back, it’s pretty cool. It’s crazy for a long time, then you have a peaceful calm for a bit, then it goes nuts again. I remember thinking “is it over” and then it wasn’t.

Why did it move 4 miles back west?

Because of the things and stuff.

No that's a legitimate concern.
I hate pine trees... Hate pine needles even more.

Andrews eye came pretty fricking close to coming over BR. That is def the closest I have ever been to one.

That was fun times. I got shitfaced and forgot gas up and afterwards was running on fumes and basically stranded at the dorm. Luckily a friend gave me a ride back to hometown.

Except that truthfully, I didn’t forget, I was stupid and just didn’t.
Also the friend was a semi-cute chick I was having casual sex with on an infrequent basis.

I do. It was wild. We were in New Iberia. I was scared, honestly. I was 12 and not happy that we had to go through another round of it

I was in high school during Andrew and just remember us tossing a Nerf football with the wind to see how far we could get it. Gustav is easily the worst storm I can remember at 46 yrs old in this area.
