Any suggestions who has decent FR at less than $100/shirt or pants?
You’re welcomed in advance.

Had a fire chief tell me that 100% cotton worked just as well in a flash fire as FR clothing. I think most employers are covering there butts by requiring this level of protection for all at eh work site.

If you find some reasonably priced dark color long sleeve tshirts let me know. My long sleeve work units are killing me. Yes I’m a blue collar welder and not an OT baller

Go stand in an Arc Flash w/ Cotton on vs FR. See how you look and feel after.

Actually a big difference between arc flash and flash fire. Electric codes are designed towards safety by arc flash potential in different voltage ratings. Which includes gumby suits and barricades and robot arms activated remotely. Also electricians working on certain volts live have different ratings tagged on their FRC

Ariat....they have new shirts that are not your typical FR's that are thick, heavy and hot AF.
They are almost like a fishing shirt. Will run ya $100 but it's worth it

It's a total crock of s***. In our industry, we are working with 460 inside Rittal-type panels. It's well known that if you stand aside when you open the panels, the danger is 99pct gone. Stack that on top of the 99pct "it never happens anyway" and the fact that I'm not going to be anywhere near the panels when they first open them...
This is big company BS at its finest, fleecing me of $200. You can bet I'm expensing this one.
I also have to do a 10 hour training course and watch a video on site. All this for a job that can take 1-3 days.
Here's the best part, I can probably already tell you whats on the video and the subsequent quiz:
1. You are the primary person responsible for your safety
2. Do not drive unauthorized heavy machinery
3. Jobsite speed limit is 9mph
4. must wear ppe and masks all day every day
5. only walk in designated areas and use man doors
6. do not use your phone unless in a designated area
7. no pictures
We all know where this goatf*** is going. Bring coffee.

There are some safety stores with great FR selections (especially around Laplace) but it all depends where you live and where you’re going.
There’s a place in LaPlace that sells lightly used FR stuff pretty cheap.
