imagine what the murder per capita numbers look like for BR when you remove St. George

i hate to use the "P" word... but we may be looking at a potential Top 3 seed!

Travis County is notably blue and yet Austin remains year after year one of the safest cities of 1,000,000 or more. I think it’s rare if Austin has over 35 murders a year.

Can we get some more demographics?

Why do statistical facts bother you?

Found the demographics for Austin, Texas. They are from the 2010 census. Probably haven't changed much.
quote:

Demographics

U.S. Decennial Census
Racial composition 2010
White 68.3%
Non-Hispanic 48.7%
Black 8.1%
Hispanic or Latino 35.1%
Asian 6.3%

Now post the ones for the murder capitals.

According to the 2010 census, the racial makeup of the city (Baton Rouge) was 54.54% Black or African American, 39.37% White, 0.5% Native American, 3.5% Asian, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos were 3.5% of the population. Non-Hispanic Whites were 37.8% of the population, down from 70.5% in 1970

60.9 murders per 100k for #1 and 35.1 per 100k for #5. That's amazing the gap.

It's overall violent crime rate so murder, rape, robbery, aggregated assault.

What I came here to post

does anyone have crime stats from 1970?

Also, I believe Laffy is something like 65% white, making it the only majority white city over 100K people in the non-mountain South. Anyone have Laffy crime stats?

What? I'd think Jacksonville and Tampa are majority white. So is Gainesville and it's over 100k

wonder where Jackson, MS is on the list?

Jackson not being in the top 5 either means they are only ranking cities with populations of 200k and more, or a representative is paying to keep the statistics from being released about Jackson.

I'm pretty sure Jackson had more homicides than Baton Rouge last year.
