I thought the unwritten rule was that you get one baby shower. Just got an invitation for someone squeezing out her fourth kid. Do these people not know the rules or do they truely not give a frick? Someone else is "hosting" it in the house of the expecting couple.

How long has it been since they had a baby? You can have a baby shower if your other kids are older. There is some specific year gap in Emily Post, but I'm not sure what it is.

Get them a bottle of liquor and passes to the world's largest staircase.

Fourth.

They have a 4 year old. It's not like all their kids are in their teens and this was a surprise.

They are trashy and looking for free shite. Don't go. It's low rent to have a second shower unless it's been 12 or so years. Probably trashy then as well.

Bring a pack of diapers and drink all their booze.

I refused to allow a baby shower for our second. I thought it would have only been acceptable if the gender was different than the first. Even then it would have felt weird.

I just looked it up. It's okay if there has been a big gap since the last baby (5+ years) and also okay if it is for close friends and family with small gifts (a "sprinkle") but guests who attended previous showers should not be invited to subsequent showers.

ETA: Also okay if they had 3 boys and are now having a girl, or vice versa.

I'm sure they sent out plenty of invites and won't care if y'all don't participate.

I was given a surprise shower for our second child, but mostly out of pity, probably. Our first child had lots of health issues, and the gifts for the second baby were home cooked freezer meals. Very thoughtful, imho.

My wife was thinking of doing something for my sister as they are having a second child and this time it's a girl instead of a boy. She doesn't want to do a shower, but wants to do something. I told her that seems a little wierd. People close to them like us are going to get them things anyway. Don't want to make anyone feel like they need to buy gifts.
