Why did they all keep in close contact? Go on trips with him, borrow money, go fishing, work for him, etc?

Just didnt make sense to me.

Strain's problem is that there was a lot more than one person - A LOT MORE!

Apparently he buttfricked an 11 year old when he was like 17. And apparently he would do it in a pond while they were swimming which is just exceptionally nasty to me for some reason

Because it’s interesting to read other people’s options as well. Kind of what this entire message board is about.

go read what the psychologist said, guilt, confusion, sexual confusion, ..he hit the kids when they were young so they grew up confused about how to handle being raped.

Strain and him family remained stoic as he learned his fate: Guilty of four counts of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated incest, and one count each of sexual battery and indecent behavior with a juvenile. A mandatory life sentence awaits him at his Jan. 18 sentencing.

I hope he lives out the rest of his life in the living hell he deserves

I don't think I could ever convict someone for offenses that occurred 30 years ago where the alleged victim(s) were still alive and failed to come forward. Too much chance for a wrongful conviction.

Same.

Normally, I would agree, but when half your family is testifying against you and accusing you of rape, then I don't find it difficult. But I still don't like the idea of people waiting forever to come out with it because in the meantime, the accused are usually raping many others. But I've never been in that situation and I'm sure it's devastating just to tell anyone.

One person’s word from many years ago with no evidence? I’d hesitate to convict.

MULTIPLE people? That kind of changes things.

I don't know Jack Strain, although I vaguely remember when he was a fat-arse cop in Abita. I laughed when my grandfather would call him Boo Boo. Anyway, of the handful of people I know who do know him, or have worked for him, they were a bit shocked when all of this came out into the open. Crooked as shite and a thief? Oh, yeah. No problem believing that. A serial pedo rapist? None of them saw that coming.

That being said, he had been found guilty, and I hope he gets 100 percent the maximum penalty.

I guess those federal charges don't look so bad now, do they Boo Boo?

There was no way he was getting off on this and no way he didn’t do this with the mountain of evidence/ witnesses etc. I don’t understand why he didn’t kill himself while he was out of jail during the trial.

Yeah, I grew up in Abita and he was my bus driver in elementary school. My dad always called him Boo Boo too.

I think everyone just assumes the sheriff, and any other elected official, in the parish is crooked. I don't know of anyone who wasn't floored when this all came out.

I don’t know Jack Strain, but I knew two of the victims fairly well. I can’t speak for others, but I was quite surprised when the allegations hit.

With 5 witnesses giving testimony against him, I can totally get why the jury came back with a guilty verdict. Their testimony was quite damning. In short, if everything is as what is presented, then he deserves to be under the jail.

well, he’s that too.
the rape/incest allegations were made during the federal investigation for which he is currently (also) under indictment. Icing on the cake, if you will.

sheriffs should be term limited at two terms.
until then, we need to investigate them all and clean house. Cazes, Ard and Edwards should be next
