Forget flying cars, it’s flying motorcycles on deck in 2023.

The Speeder's design team said the sci-fi sky-bike recently passed flight tests. They expect it to be commercially available by 2023.
quote:

The Speeder is an engineering feat that required Jetpack Aviation to write its own flight-control software program to monitor and adjust the thrust. The benefit of that work, which took a year and a half, is an intuitive system that functions like a typical motorcycle and automatically stabilizes the machine in flight. It can take off and land vertically from most surfaces in roughly the space taken up by a car, and it can be programmed to fly autonomously.

Looks like rapid death to me. I'm all for innovation, but that's a no for me.

Is it bad that my first thought is “now I can avoid roadblocks after the bar”

Hovering isn’t cheap and certainly isn’t for the poors.

Can they just stop it with this recycled buck Rogers sci fi crap from the 1960s already.

Would have made it easier outrunning the cops when I was in Jr High riding to school.
One would see me speeding and take chase. I would cut through yards and alleys to out run them. Had a buddy that had a motorcycle like mine and I would park next to his and watch the cops pull up trying to figure out what cycle they were chasing. Never got a ticket or caught.
