Seems that the consumers are not adopting electric vehicles as much as planned.

quote:

Having signaled in October during its Q3 earnings call plans to “adjust” production of its all-electric vehicles and delay about $12 billion in investments due to softening demand for higher-priced premium electric vehicles; a memo to suppliers - which was viewed and reported first tonight by Automotive News - indicated plans beginning in January to produce an average of about 1,600 Lightning trucks a week at its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan.

Ford had planned for an annual production capacity of 150,000 Lightnings a year, or about 3,200 a week.

That means its production target for 2024 has been halved.

“We’ll continue to match production with customer demand,” a Ford spokeswoman said Monday.

In May 2021, during a flashy introduction, Ford CEO Jim Farley told reporters that the electric F-150 could serve as a proxy for how mainstream buyers will accept battery power.

They make the Ford Maverick, but you guys don't like it because it's built like a Ridgeline. That's the cheapest Ford you can buy new right now.

i'm guessing you are goign to buy them with your tax dollars and they will sit on a military base or something so that some commander somewhere can crow about his all electric fleet to his boss and they can all get promoted. jsut a guess though.

1600 a week still sounds like alot, definitely much more than demand would seem like

EV's have their place in the world. Full-sized trucks isn't really their wheelhouse.

Not sure why this keeps getting posted.. you know the Tesla model Y just became the best selling car in the world right?

Maybe Ford and GM just can’t get their shite together too?

I saw where Ford is going to make more powerboost (hybrid) F150’s in 2024 and they are going to cost the same as the normal 3.5’s.

These actual seem practical to me, since the battery charges while driving, especially with the 7.5kw power generator.

I just don’t know how I would feel about the engine not turning on until 15-20mph. I would rather the engine idle the whole time.

maybe that has something to do with the tiny Tesla driving crowd and the half ton pickup driving crowd having very little overlap.

Except you can't buy one and if you do you are going to pay a steep dealer markup. If you could walk in and pay MSRP we'd have 2 of them. I ain't paying more than Ford says it is worth.

EVs are fine in a 2 car household when used as a commuter vehicle then you use other ICE car for road trips

The truck makes no sense, particularly the poor towing range.

You’re aware that F-150s are trucks right? No one wants an electric truck.

Best selling car in the world yet I see maybe a handful and I'm on the road 2-3 weeks per month for 6-8 months a year. Who's buying them? Where are they?
