Ford is recalling 410,289 late-model pickup trucks in the United States to fix engine block heaters that can short, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Including trucks in the Canada market, the recall totals more than 874,000 F-150 and Super Duty models. It involves 2015–2019 F-150 models and 2017–2019 Super Duty (F-250, F-350, F-450) and Chassis Cab (F-550) trucks.

You'd have to be a pretty wimpy baw to have optioned for a block heater in this part of the world.

We can thank the Basin Bridge for exposing this design flaw for all to see.

Thanks for the reminder. I've got 2 recalls I need to take care of on mine.

Dealers will squeeze grease onto the connectors starting in January. If the cable is damaged, owners must come back a second time for the replacement cable to arrive.
And they won't give you a loaner while it takes them 10 hours to rub some grease on it.
Not sure anyone in La needs to worry about this. Not sure if mine even has a block heater on it. If it does, this makes 2 recalls on my truck in the past 6 month that cause it to catch fire. I'll probably take a look at the Rams for my next truck

IIRC block heater was optional, and if it was then I know I didn't add it.

Every diesel motor nowadays has an engine block heater built into it. The cord is optional.

I don’t think many of them have them now. Newer diesels have less a need for them compared to years ago.
I know I bought a f250 last year in Louisiana and had to get one installed in North Dakota where I was working because I needed it.
