For those with a company car. Do you use it for personal use?

Also, would you prefer to use your own vehicle and claim mileage if you had an option?

C’mon brah. Unless you drive a FedEx truck or a RotoRooter truck - why wouldn’t you?

That's kind of a personal question, IMO.

I get to claim mileage for my personal vehicle at $.58/mile which well pays for the gas and more. The downside is I’m putting over 50k miles a year on my personal vehicle.

I prefer to use my own. If the company does its books properly, the use of a company car for personal driving is income which you have to pay taxes on.

The depreciation of mileage and wear/tear is not covered by .58 a mile

I drive my own car and claim mileage. I would take a company car in a heartbeat. Take the depreciation on that instead of my own property.

Lol sure it is unless you are getting only 14 miles to the gallon.

Not even close.
We use a 3rd party for mileage reimbursement, and don't get close to the IRS rate. Before the trump tax cuts, I could write off the difference, but it's not worth it anymore.
Really sucks.

I loved my company truck. Wasnt supposed to tow with it but I did. Then they were adding tracking devices and seatbelts monitoring. I dont like being micro managed so I took the vehicle allowance instead. New company just gives allowance.

I use my company truck for personal usage. We have a website where you upload your personal miles . It’s then taxed as “non-cash earnings”.
I paid about $200 in taxes for the free use of a nice pick-up truck. I’ll take it.

No, I would rather not get mileage and have to use my vehicle.
Since 1994. It’s been wonderful.
I’m on my eighth vehicle now. (Grand Cherokee)
Here’s what my first looked like (except a single cab):

Sometimes I use it for personal use. As long as I’m not taking it on vacation I doubt anyone would care.
Also I have the option to use my own truck and I choose the company truck and gas card.
I don’t need unnecessary miles on my personal truck.

Sounds like you make enough off of mileage to buy a new car every year and still have money to frick with.
