If a neurosurgeon had an unkempt appearance, used angry language, and had a hint of a crazy look in his eyes, I'd be pretty scared.

Yea, that's the point. I bet these same white people would be just as nervous around a bunch of shaved head white guys covered in tattoos. Judging people's appearances is a survival technique. It is better to have a heightened awareness of your surrounds than to be a clueless victim.

It's no surprise given that our current penal system was designed to oppress black people.

Being poor doesn't give you the right to be a thug. For fricks sake, making trite excuses is a major factor in all of this. If you don't want to better yourself go sit in your taxpayer provided corner and be "American" poor till your number gets punched. The majority of these fricks don't know what real poverty is.

There's certainly an issue with the rate at which black people commit crimes, but they can also be treated less fairly by cops or the judicial system as well, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. Whether they are or aren't is up for debate, but there's lots of data to suggest that white folks are treated better once in the system, no?

Possibly, whoever has the most money is treated more fairly. But the rap sheets I see tell me it's a revolving door for everyone and the victims of crime are the ones mistreated by the system.
However that has little to do with committing the crimes.

Like I said, I think it's both, but certainly not 50/50. The crimes being committed at an alarming rate are certainly the biggest issue.
